- Diet and Nutrition
By modifying only your food intake, you can make a world of difference in your weight and appearance. I myself have been involved in sports, fitness, and nutrition from a fairly young age. There was a point in my young adult life for a couple of years where I completely let go; due to convenience, I ate pretty much nothing but junk and got very little exercise. My behaviors caused me to end up with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, getting winded easily, and just plain old fat.
My turning point was when my extra-large shirts started getting tight. I though to myself that there was no way in hell that I am going to start wearing 2XL shirts. Focusing 100% on my diet, I was able to shed over 60 pounds in 6 months getting myself back down to a normal weight. In the end, I did end up having to replace my XL shirts, but it wasn’t with 2XL, it was with large. Once I got myself back down to a healthy weight, I was then more willing to and able to incorporate exercising into my routine.
Though exercise isn’t required to successfully drop weight, it is required to actually be healthy. When I got myself to a healthy weight, I decided I would try my hand at cycling as my main form of aerobic activity since I have always disliked running. A good aerobic activity needs to be the core of your exercising routine such as running or cycling to get your heart rate up regularly. Try to choose something that you will enjoy, able to challenge yourself with, and something that you can include some friends or family with.
